NO_PUBKEY warning when running "apt"


When receiving a warning:

The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY XXXXXXXX      

W: There is no public key available for the following key IDs:      
XXXXXXXX

 

First, retrieve the key:

gpg --keyserver pgpkeys.mit.edu --recv-key  XXXXXXXX

Then, import the key for use by apt:

gpg -a --export XXXXXXXX | apt-key add -

Where XXXXXXXX is the key.
